Doug Milner

Founder & Managing Partner

Doug Milner’s practice at EnergyExits includes the sale of privately-held energy companies (Exits), corporate finance advisory services (Capital), strategic planning (Advice), and Enterprise Value Optimization™ (EVO).

Doug has advised a diverse portfolio of energy industry clients throughout the American West. He is highly skilled in company sale strategy and execution, business enterprise evaluation, and corporate finance matters including both senior and junior debt to support growth and acquisitions.
Doug brings more than 25 years of M+A experience to EnergyExits team. Prior to founding the firm Doug was a Senior Managing Director in the California office of a national M+A firm where he managed both sell-side and buy-side transactions, as well as corporate finance mandates. Doug's career in mergers & acquisitions began in 1992 as a member of the business development and M+A team at Sanifill, Inc., a NYSE environmental services company. While at Sanifill Doug became the company’s Manager of M+A and Business Development for the Pacific Northwest. The assets of Sanifill are now a part of Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE: WM).

Doug brings a unique set of expertise to every energy industry client. Doug’s professional background is particularly helpful to seller clients whose companies represent a strategic acquisition opportunity for larger buyers, and to middle-market companies seeking to grow via acquisition.

Doug received his BA degree from the University of California at Davis. He is an active participant in energy industry trade associations throughout the West including WOMA, OFA, CIOMA, WPMA, as well as M+A trade associations including the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA).

Bill Deck

Managing Director

Bill Decker is a Managing Director at EnergyExits and a senior member of the firm’s transaction team. Bill advises clients on company sales (Exits) and various corporate finance matters (Capital) including banking relationship assessments and the sourcing of both senior and junior debt to support our client’s growth and acquisition activity.

Bill brings more than 25 years of experience to the transaction team at EnergyExits: in addition to general project management Bill serves as the firm’s closing specialist, where he acts as a co-manager for complex transactions upon the execution of a Letter of Intent. In this role Bill oversees the legal, due diligence and closing phases of the transaction process. 

Prior to joining EnergyExits Bill was a Senior Transaction Director in the California office of a national M+A firm focused primarily on sell-side M+A and corporate finance matters. During his career Bill has served a long list of energy clients throughout the American West. Bill’s professional reputation, depth of knowledge, and his experience and dedication to his clients have earned him recognition within industry circles as a top professional in his field.

Bill received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Bloomsburg University (Pennsylvania); he is actively involved in energy industry and M+A trade associations including WOMA, OFA, CIOMA, WPMA and the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA).

Michelle Sather

Client Services Manager

As the firm's Client Services Manager Michelle is involved in nearly every phase of the company sale (Exit) process. Michelle brings more than 13 years of M+A experience to the EnergyExits team including financial modeling and analysis, project coordination, process and timeline management, industry research, document preparation, database development, and due diligence coordination & fulfillment.

Michelle is a certified cost accountant with eight years of experience in the manufacturing sector. Prior to joining EnergyExits Michelle held top-level cost accounting positions at both Aerojet Fine Chemical in Rancho Cordova, CA and at Leatherman Tool Group in Portland, OR. At both Aerojet and Leatherman Michelle was responsible for product costing, budget preparation, and financial analysis.

Michelle received a bachelor’s degree in in business administration with an emphasis in management accounting from Southern Oregon University.
